Case Study: Big Apple Plumbing Commercial

Overview
For this locally focused commercial, Mile High Films combined a lighthearted comic narrative with an authentic business interview to create a memorable, small-business brand story. The goal was to humanize the company and make plumbing service feel approachable, relatable, and trustworthy—without losing the humor that keeps viewers engaged.

Challenges
The project had to be produced on a very tight budget, requiring creative solutions for both location and casting. We needed a setting that could work for both the comedic vignettes and the owner’s on-camera interview. Additionally, we had to accommodate practical water effects without causing any damage or disruption.

Solutions
We rented a local Airbnb and were transparent with the homeowner from the start, clearly explaining how the space would be used, the amount of equipment involved, and the need for light water effects. Our crew worked efficiently and respectfully, cleaning and restoring the property so that it was left in pristine condition after the shoot.

For casting, we partnered with a local talent agency to find two comic actors who could bring the script’s humor to life. With budget constraints allowing only three hours per performer, we scheduled one actor in the morning and the other in the afternoon—carefully planning coverage to maximize production value within the limited time.

Impact
The finished broadcast commercial blended humor and authenticity, helping Big Apple Plumbing stand out in the Denver market. The spot captures both the personality of the business and the professionalism behind their work, reinforcing community trust and brand recognition.
